Liverpool's Midfield Search, Does João Gomes Make Sense?
Published 3 months, 1 week ago
Description
In this episode of Transfer Market Metrics, Eddie Gibbs and Dr Phil Barter turn their attention to another Liverpool linked midfielder, analysing whether Wolves' João Gomes is genuinely worth a £40 million to £50 million investment. Using detailed performance data, they compare Gomes' strengths in ball carrying and work rate against his shortcomings in progression, creativity and final product. The discussion also explores why Liverpool continue to monitor the Brazilian despite concerns that his profile overlaps heavily with Ryan Gravenberch, ultimately questioning whether he would improve the squad or simply become an expensive rotation option.
