Does Lifting Weights Make Women Bulky? - Day 23

Published 4 days, 15 hours ago
Description

Will lifting weights make you bulky? It's one of the biggest myths keeping women out of the weight room, and today we're replacing fear with science.

In Day 23 of the RAC Summer Recomp Series, you'll learn why women don't accidentally build large muscles, how hormones influence muscle growth, and why strength training is the key to achieving a lean, toned physique through body recomposition. We also break down why the scale may temporarily increase after starting a lifting program, what an "X-frame" physique really is, and why building muscle—not endless cardio or Pilates alone—is what creates the shape most women are actually chasing.

Today's RAC Targets

  1. Choose a weight that makes your last 2–3 reps feel challenging.
  2. Record your waist, thigh, and arm measurements to track body recomposition beyond the scale.
  3. Write down one reason you want to become stronger that has nothing to do with your appearance.

If you're ready to stop guessing and start following a science-backed strength program designed specifically for women over 35, join the RAC Recomp Collective and get new progressive workouts every month
