Description

Part 1:
We talk with Katrina Vanden Heuve, National Editor and Publisher, The Nation.
We discuss the nomination of the City of Minneapolis for the Nobel Peace Prize.
We also discuss the protests against AI data centers, and use of social media. Truth is expensive.
Part 2:
We talk with Matt Gardner, of the Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy (ITEP), a non partisan think tank.
We discuss how Musk, through DOGE, has defunded the IRS, thus saving himself billions. The IRS now has fewer employees, and less money to pursue high income tax cheats. Lower income taxpayers are more likely to be audited and pursued, since they are easier targets, having fewer resources to defend themselves. The very rich will get away with cheating on their taxes. For example, SpaceX is claiming a $300 Million tax break with for questionable reasons that will likely not be challenged. There are more gray areas in corporate tax law than in consumer tax laws that can be exploited to the advantage of the very rich.
