In this video, I explain why I believe Diddy is focused on the appeals process instead of pursuing a presidential pardon right now. In my opinion, a successful appeal would be far more valuable because it could overturn his convictions, while a presidential pardon would forgive the punishment but would not erase the convictions themselves. I also discuss why there may have been a time when seeking a pardon made more sense and why that calculation could change again depending on how the appeal unfolds.
We’ll break down what a pardon actually does, what an appeal could accomplish, and why Diddy’s legal strategy may be centered on the courtroom rather than the White House.
