Human Rights: Are We Reaching Our Potential?
Published 1 month, 3 weeks ago
Description
Malaysia continues to stand out in Southeast Asia for its relatively strong income level, with GDP per capita reaching about $11,900 US dollars in 2024.However, the Human Rights Measurement Initiative 2026 report shows a more complicated reality beneath these numbers. While quality of life rights reach 76.8%, and safety from the state scores 6.9 out of 10, empowerment remains much lower at 5.1 out of 10.Should progress be judged mainly by economic strength, or by how far rights and freedoms are protected for ordinary people?
