Story Transcript:

Sl: Poletno popoldne je sonce sijalo dol na julijske Alpe in zlato obarvalo dolino.
En: On a summer afternoon, the sun shone down on the Julian Alps and painted the valley in gold.

Sl: Skupina mladih je potovala skozi zeleno pokrajino.
En: A group of young people traveled through the green landscape.

Sl: Jure, Nika in Tine so se odpravili na šolski potep.
En: Jure, Nika, and Tine set out on a school excursion.

En: None of them had been near the local community, which still maintained old traditions.

Sl: Ko so prispeli, jih je pozdravil starešina po imenu Stane.
En: When they arrived, they were greeted by an elder named Stane.

En: He wore a hat adorned with mountain flowers, and his cheeks were red from the mountain wind.

Sl: "Dobrodošli," je rekel z globokim glasom.
En: "Welcome," he said in a deep voice.

Sl: "Danes boste spoznali naše rokodelstvo in zgodbe.
En: "Today you will learn about our crafts and stories."

Sl: "Nika je svetila od navdušenja.
En: Nika beamed with excitement.

Sl: "Komaj čakam!
En: "I can't wait!"

Sl: " je vzkliknila.
En: she exclaimed.

En: Tine was quieter, but he had already opened his notebook to record his impressions of the surroundings.

En: Jure, however, stood slightly behind, neutral but curious.

En: He didn’t understand why anyone would want to spend hours learning old crafts, which seemed irrelevant to him.

Sl: Hitro je postavil vprašanje: "Zakaj so te spretnosti še vedno pomembne?
En: He quickly posed a question: "Why are these skills still important?"

En: "Through these crafts, we keep our history alive," Stane replied calmly.

Sl: "Vsaka rez izrezuje zgodbo.
En: "Each carving tells a story."

En: The day began with wood carving.

Sl: Jure je bil sprva zgolj opazovalec.
En: At first, Jure was just an observer.

Sl: Njegove roke so bile neuporabe, a kmalu ga je intrigira iznajdljivost obrti.
En: His hands were useless, but soon the ingenuity of the craft intrigued him.

Sl: Bil je priča, kako Stane spreminja surovo leseno ploščo v obliko ptice.
En: He witnessed how Stane transformed a raw wooden board into the shape of a bird.

Sl: "Kaj počneš?
En: "What are you doing?"

Sl: " je končno vprašal Jure, njegove oči so sledile bliskovitim gibom Stanejeve roke.
En: Jure finally asked, his eyes following the swift movements of Stane's hand.

En: "Defying time," the elder replied, his eyes sparkling.

En: "This is the story of the bird that guards our valley."

En: There was someth
