Just when we thought VGK would have zero first round picks in the NHL Draft, we saw the Golden Knights trade Pavel Dorofeyev to the Rangers to get not only a first-rounder, but they parlayed those picks into more assets and selected a Finnish defenseman Juho Piiparinen with the 29th overall pick.  VGK loses its leading-scorer over the past two seasons.  Moreover, Dorofeyev scored 20 goals on the man advantage this season.  The winger could have been offer-sheeted Monday, but that process could have been a lose-lose for VGK.  Dorofeyev was quickly signed to a deal worth $11 million AAV over seven years.  A massive raise.  We believe that VGK will package the picks for a bigger deal, perhaps for Dylan Larkin or Zach Werenski.  We felt there was no path to VGK retaining Dorofeyev, who's asking price had risen based on his success the past two seasons.  We discuss what we believe could be next for VGK as the Draft enters its second day.
