The Cradle Where I Stood
Description
Luna holds her mother's letter, the paper warm as breath, and feels the cradle pulling at her like gravity. Behind her, the doppelganger child presses against the wall of mirrors. Clara's ghost has gone quiet. In the cradle room beneath the theater, Luna reads words she was never meant to see — her mother's account of the night she fled, leaving behind a child who would grow up to be the curse's anchor. The letters rearrange as she reads, becoming a new script. Luna must decide: destroy the letter and break the loop, or enter the cradle and become the Marguerite who stays. But the doppelganger is not a child — she is Luna, grown backward through time, waiting for the moment Luna was born. The mirrors show a version of the theater that has no exit. Luna sets the letter down and steps toward the cradle, and the child laughs from inside it.
