Federal trial delayed for former DeSoto coach, minister / New world screwworm not yet impacting Mississippi

Former DeSoto County youth minister and high school basketball coach Lindsey Whiteside has once again had her federal trial delayed. Whiteside, who previously coached basketball at DeSoto Central High School and was a minister at Getwell Church, will now stand trial in the federal courthouse in Greenville on Oct. 13.
As cases of the flesh-eating new world screwworm rise, Mississippi has yet to be one of the states impacted by what officials call an agricultural nightmare. As of Thursday, there were 20 cases of the parasite confirmed in the U.S.
