Episode Details

Could the Montreal Canadiens finally weaponize the offer sheet this offseason?

In this episode of The Starr & D'Amico Show, we examine one of the most aggressive strategies available to Kent Hughes and the Canadiens as they continue their search for elite young talent. Could Montreal target restricted free agents around the NHL and force rival teams into difficult decisions?

We discuss realistic options such as Mavrik Bourque of the Dallas Stars and whether the salary cap situation in Dallas could make him vulnerable to an offer sheet. We also explore more ambitious "fantasy" scenarios involving highly talented young centers like Adam Fantilli of the Columbus Blue Jackets and Leo Carlsson of the Anaheim Ducks.

Would an offer sheet make sense for the Canadiens? What would the compensation cost be? Which players are worth the risk, and which organizations would be most vulnerable to an aggressive move from Kent Hughes?

Join Shaun Starr and Marco D'Amico as they break down the pros, cons, risks, and potential rewards of one of the NHL's most controversial offseason tools.
