Our sugya takes a brief pause from the laws of treifot and turns to the special blessing bestowed upon the Kohen for blessing the people of Israel each day. We will seek to understand the nature of this blessing and explore how it affects a halakhic ruling in a challenging case: when a Kohen stands in the synagogue and declares that he does not wish to go up and bless the congregation.
