• In Tokyo, Otonal has launched a podcast and audio ad localization service, to help global brands adapt their English-language content into the Japanese market. Literal translations, the company says, simply don't work well in Japan, with complex levels of politeness, and grammatical structures that mean call-to-actions are at the end of a sentence.
• The Scottish Podcast Awards took place last night. The event was marred by the audience booing the winner of the Best International podcast, The Rest is History. That award, which didn't require a Scottish connection, was accepted by video. Otherwise, we're told it was a positive event; the winners haven't been published, we've asked for a list.
• YouTube has 13.4% of all TV watching in the US, says Nielsen's latest Gauge reports. Netflix is at 7.8%; Tubi is up to 2.3%.
