The water boatman insect exhibits precise engineering designs, such as eyes perfectly positioned for swimming upside down and paddle-like legs. To stay underwater without gills, it uses a tail-mounted snorkel system equipped with tiny, water-repellent hairs that double as motion sensors. These highly specialized features could not have emerged through gradual evolutionary trial and error.
