The Fox Hollow Murders, one of Indiana’s most disturbing and still-evolving true-crime cases. The investigation centers on businessman Herb Baumeister and his 18-acre Fox Hollow Farm in Westfield, Indiana, where investigators discovered thousands of human bones and bone fragments in 1996. Many of the victims were men connected to Indianapolis’ LGBTQ+ community, and authorities believe Baumeister targeted men he encountered at gay bars.

Before investigators could arrest and question him, Baumeister fled to Canada and died by suicide in Ontario in July 1996. He was therefore never tried or convicted for the Fox Hollow killings, leaving major questions about the full extent of the crimes unanswered.

Decades later, the investigation continues. Advances in DNA analysis and forensic genetic genealogy have allowed authorities to identify additional remains recovered from the property, while investigators continue working to give names back to unidentified victims.
