We talk with Dr.Esteban Santis, Director of Research, Florida Policy Institute.
We discuss the proposed, and up for a vote, the Florida property tax proposal, to cut property taxes for property owners. This would remove at least $12B from local government funding. No solution has been offered how to offset this loss to funding for necessary services, such as schools, sanitation, etc. No revenue replacement has been proposed.
Part 2:
We talk with David Sirota, founder and editor-in-chief o "The Lever".
We discuss the vote before the people of California, to tax billionaires in California at the rate of 5% for all assets over $1B. This is a one-time tax, and the proceeds would fund medical coverage for 3M people in California, who have lost coverage due to federal cuts. This kind of tax could be a precursor in other states.
