A World Cup stadium can make or break the fan experience with what happens on its screens, and Estadio Banorte in Mexico City has just set a new benchmark. We dig into the technology transformation at the iconic venue (known to many as the Estadio Azteca) and why AV Pro Edge believes it’s the largest SDVOE video-over-IP network ever deployed, all built to keep video crisp, responsive, and in sync across a massive footprint.
We walk through what “stadium-wide AV network” really means in practice: more than 500 displays and over 20 large-format video walls fed with live match coverage, instant replays, wayfinding, and branded content, all with minimal latency and consistent image quality. The backbone is built around the MXNet 10G SDVOE platform, with transceivers behind every display and a high-capacity switching design that includes 100-gigabit core switches, plus access switching to scale distribution across the venue.
We also highlight the engineering choices that reduce risk on projects where commissioning windows are tight, and deadlines do not move. The team recreated the entire system in the lab, then spent weeks on full integration testing to validate performance before any on-site installation began. Delivered through collaboration among Pop Media as the lead integrator, Duozon as the Mexico distribution partner, and Polaris Controls providing local support, it’s a practical case study in how unified IP-based AV infrastructure is replacing siloed systems across different zones.
If you design or install AV for stadiums, arenas, and large venues, you’ll leave with clear takeaways on scalability, resilience, and centralised management.
