[המשך] זה שראה המאורע המזעזע בודאי אינו "לבטלה" אלא הוא יכול וצריך ללמוד מזה הוראה עיקרית, ובכו"כ פרטים: כאשר טוען בשביל מה מתערבים לו בחייו הפרטיים שעליו להניח תפילין ולאכול כשר וכיו"ב – הוא יבחר בעצמו איך להתנהג! הנה רואים שכאשר דרשו משאר מדינות העולם להגביר את אמצעי הבטחון וכו' – לא טענו שאין להתערב בעניניהם הפרטיים אלא הבינו וקיבלו את הדרישה! ועד"ז אומרים ליהודי: בתור חלק מה"גוי קדוש" ו"כל ישראל ערבים זה בזה", הרי החסרון ב"אמצעי הבטחון" – הנחת תפילין, שמירת שבת וכיו"ב – בחייך האישיים נוגע לעניני הבטחון של כל היהודים בכל מקום ובאיזה מצב שהם נמצאים! ואם טוען הרי עד עתה התנהג כך והעולם "לא נחרב"... – הרי בפועל קרה מאורע כזה כתוצאה מחסרון בעניני בטחון, וכאשר רואים זאת, יש לעשות הכל כדי להבטיח שזה לא יחזור על עצמו (היל"ת) [המשך יבוא]

(Continued.) The fact that one witnessed this shocking incident was surely not for nothing; rather, one can and must learn from it a fundamental lesson. When someone argues: why are you interfering in my personal life and telling me to put on tefillin, to eat kosher, and the like; let me choose for himself how to conduct my life – here we see that when other countries were called upon to increase their security, they complied, without complaining about interference in their internal affairs. Similarly, a Jew should be told: you are part of the Holy Nation, and “all the Jewish people are responsible for one another.” Therefore, your “security measures” – putting on tefillin, keeping Shabbos etc. – affect not only your own life, but the lives of all Jews in the world.
