Gregg Carlstrom: Middle East correspondent on the first day of US-Iran peace talks stalling

Published 2 days, 20 hours ago
Description

Iran and the US are still following the path of negotiation, despite hitches.

Iran's team walked out of talks in Switzerland today after Donald Trump publicly threatened to resume bombing and take over the Strait of Hormuz.

Economist Middle East correspondent, Gregg Carlstrom, says it's not clear how much has been achieved.

But he says there's agreement to continue technical talks.

"One would imagine nuclear experts, sanctions experts, the people who would have to work out the nuts and bolts of any final agreement - they're going to keep negotiating and so that's the one slightly encouraging sign."
