En: In the ice-cold winter, the wind roars over the medieval market square of Kaapstad.

En: At one of the stalls stands Amelia, a savvy trader known for her bargaining skills.

En: She has a big dream - one that has nothing to do with the market offers, but with the world beyond.

En: As she looks around, her eyes search for something special.

En: It is spices she desires, rare and exotic fragrances to make her trade flourish.

En: Just a few meters away from her, Pieter, a poor wood magician, tries to sell his sculptures and carvings.

En: His work is beautiful but difficult to present in a market full of noisy hawkers.

En: He knows he must seize this rare chance because a success here can improve his position in the market.

En: Pieter steps to Amelia's stall and shows his artworks.

Af: "Mooi, né?" vra hy hoopvol.
En: "Pretty, right?" he asks hopefully.

En: Amelia examines the sculptures on his table.

En: She had seen the spices gleaming on the shelf of the man across the square and knows she needs a good deal.

Af: "Ek soek speserye," sê Amelia, haar stem naaldatachtig.
En: "I’m looking for spices," says Amelia, her voice diligent.

En: "No artwork can bring out spice scents like those."

En: He understands the hunger for more than just trade; he can see it in her.

En: "What if I offer you the sculptures in exchange for your spices?" suggests Pieter, biting his lower lip with anticipation.

En: It is a gamble but one that might pay off.
