9 Grouped Anomalies Appeared then Disappeared on a Star Survey in 1950 with Dr. Beatriz Villarroel

Description

Satellites before Sputnik?9 grouped bright anomalies appeared then disappeared on photographic plate taken in April 1950 as part of the historic Palomar Sky Survey. This was well before the first satellites, and given that they disappeared within 30 minutes, if they weren't false positives, this makes them most likely to be within the solar system.Dr. Beatriz Villaroel joins John Michael Godier to discuss her work in determining just what these anomalies are. Also discussed is Beatriz joining the Galileo Project as a research team member.Link:https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-021-92162-7VASCO Citizen Science projecthttps://vasconsite.wordpress.com/ml-blink-2/Galileo Projecthttps://projects.iq.harvard.edu/galileo/home00:00:00 Intro00:00:37 Bio00:01:09 Exploring nine simultaneously occurring transients on April 12th 19500:02:15 False positives?00:05:21 What are the brightness levels of the sources?00:05:41 What is the timeframe?00:07:16 In 1950...00:08:49 Nuclear testing00:11:50 Artifact within the Solar System?00:13:53 Any other natural options?00:16:00 Vera Rubin Observatory00:18:30 Joining the Galileo ProjectWant to support the channel?Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/EventHorizonShowFollow us at other places!Website: https://www.eventhorizonshow.com/Twitter: https://twitter.com/jmgeventhorizonInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/jmgeventhorizon/Music featured on Event Horizonhttps://stellardrone.bandcamp.com/https://migueljohnson.bandcamp.com/https://leerosevere.bandcamp.com/https://aeriumambient.bandcamp.com/FOOTAGE:NASAESA/HubbleESO - M.KornmesserESO - L.CalcadaESO - Jose Francisco Salgado (josefrancisco.org)NAOJUniversity of WarwickGoddard Visualization StudioLangley Research CenterPixabay
