the first Gay Pride March. On June 28, 1970, thousands gathered in New York City for the Christopher Street Liberation Day March, commemorating the first anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising. The historic demonstration brought LGBTQ+ people and activists into the streets to demand visibility, equality, and civil rights.
