The time is now 8:01 AM in New York, I'm Noa Levi and this is the latest Israel Today: Ongoing War Report.

In the Conflict with Iran and its Regional Proxies, five Hamas terrorists based in Turkey have been unmasked for directing military actions in Israel and the West Bank and for overseeing recruitment of individuals willing to carry out attacks and smuggling weapons and funds into the region. The individuals named are Salam Yaish, Walid Abu Nasser, Majed Ja'aba, Muhammad Mallah, and Ayman Sharawna. The IDF and Shin Bet said the group has been directing operations from Turkey, while last week two Hamas leaders who headed a vast financial network in the Gaza Strip, Hussein Qadra and Mohammed Farra, were killed; that network moved more than half a billion NIS to Hamas’ military wing through a web of couriers and money exchangers in Turkey and Gaza. The military noted that steps were taken before the strike to limit civilian harm, including the use of precise munitions and aerial surveillance.

In US Policy Concerning Israel, northern Israelis fear that a Lebanon ceasefire shaped by Donald Trump could trap communities in what residents call a living hell, with Metula serving as the focal point amid US-Iranian talks to end the war. Local officials say the past four months have seen Israel’s policy influenced largely by Trump, and the border area has become a central sticking point in negotiations with Iran. The relationship between Prime Minister Netanyahu and Trump has grown tense as Trump publicly criticized Israel’s approach to Lebanon and as a memorandum of understanding with Iran features in the discussions. Separately, Friends of Zion founder Dr. Mike Evans said he intends to press President Trump on the importance of recognizing Somaliland, a move he frames as part of a broader pattern of states that bless Israel. At a Jerusalem ceremony, Somaliland President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi received the Friends of Zion Award for opening Somaliland’s embassy in Jerusalem, an event attended by diplomats and leaders from around the world; Abdullahi said the recognition reflects growing ties between Somaliland and Israel.

In US Policy Concerning Israel, Friends of Zion founder Dr. Mike Evans said he intends to speak with Trump about Somaliland recognition at the awards ceremony in Jerusalem, where Somaliland President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi received the Friends of Zion Award for opening Somaliland’s embassy in Jerusalem. The ceremony drew diplomats and leaders from across the globe, and Abdullahi voiced appreciation for the recognition, saying the award symbolizes strengthening ties between Somaliland and Israel.

In Israeli Domestic Politics, Shas spiritual leader Yitzhak Yosef said the emerging US-Iran deal is divine retribution for the crackdown on haredi draft evaders and asserted that Trump has turned against Israel because of the decrees affecting Torah scholars. He delivered the remarks in a speech in Rishon Lezion, also lambasting Attorney-General Gali Baharav-Miara as a “wicked woman,” saying she is issuing orders to arrest draft evaders. Yosef’s comments come amid ongoing tensions over haredi conscription and amid concerns voiced by Israeli officials about potential consequences as enforcement actions continue and the IDF weighs its options.

In Antisemitism and Anti-Jewish Hate, a Florida teenager has been arrested after authorities say he sprayed two Jewish pedestrians with liquid from a water gun in northeast Miami-Dade County, an incident treated as a hate crime. Amir Ayesh, 19, of Plantation, is charged with two felony counts of battery with prejudice, a hate-crime-related offense. The alleged attack occurred on May 9 in a neighborhood with a large Jewish population. Detective
