Lv: Saules stari maigi spīdēja cauri vecās skolas ēkas logiem.
En: The sun's rays gently shone through the windows of the old school building.
Lv: Tā bija tā diena, kad visā Latvijā notika vietējās pašvaldību vēlēšanas.
En: It was the day when local municipal elections were taking place all over Latvija.
Lv: Šai mazajā pilsētiņā cilvēki pa grupām nāca un devās prom.
En: In this small town, people came and went in groups.
Lv: Blakus vecam ozolam pie ieejas ēkā stāvēja Dagnis, nedroši skatoties uz saviem brāļiem.
En: Next to an old oak tree by the entrance of the building stood Dagnis, nervously looking at his brothers.
Lv: "Tētis, vai esi gatavs?
En: "Dad, are you ready?"
Lv: " viņš sauca pie sava vecā tēva Jura, kurš lēnām tika ārā no automašīnas.
En: he called to his elderly father Juris, who was slowly getting out of the car.
Lv: Juris pasmaidīja, tomēr nespēja apslēpt nelielu satraukumu.
En: Juris smiled but couldn't hide a slight anxiety.
Lv: Ilze, Dagna māsa, turpat blakus turēja somu un ik pa brīdim lūkojās uz tēti ar bažām.
En: Ilze, Dagnis's sister, was standing nearby holding a bag and occasionally glanced at her father with concern.
Lv: Ilze saprata, ka Juris grib doties balsot pats saviem spēkiem.
En: Ilze understood that Juris wanted to vote on his own.
Lv: Bet viņa nevarēja nedomāt par tēva veselību.
En: But she couldn't stop worrying about her father's health.
Lv: "Tēt, mēs tikai gribam palīdzēt," viņa mierīgi teica, maigi pieskaroties tēva elkonim.
En: "Dad, we just want to help," she said calmly, gently touching her father's elbow.
Lv: "Es saprotu, meitiņ, bet esmu pietiekami spēcīgs," Juris atbildēja, spītīgi pieceļoties taisni un lēnām dodoties uz ieejas pusi.
En: "I understand, dear, but I'm strong enough," Juris replied, stubbornly standing straight and slowly heading towards the entrance.
Lv: Dagnis smagi nopūtās, zinot, ka viņa tēti nevarēja tik viegli pārliecināt, tomēr lepni vēroja, kā Juris, gluži kā ozols, iet pats savā ceļā.
En: Dagnis sighed heavily, knowing he couldn't easily convince his dad, yet he proudly watched as Juris, much like the oak tree, went his own way.

En: There was a festive feeling in the conversations.
Lv: Dagnis, ejot līdz ar Ilzi un Juri, jūtu spirgtu smaidu, kas nevēlams pameta viņa lūpas.
En: Walking along with Ilze and Juris, Dagnis felt a fresh smile that unwillingly crept onto his lips.
Lv: Juris pievērsās Dagnim: "Es pats aizpildīšu biļetenu.
En: Juris turned to Dagnis: "I will fill out the ballot myself.
Lv: Tam ir liela nozīme.
En: It is important."
Lv: " Uz īsu brīdi brālis un māsa apmainījās skatieniem.
En: For a brief moment, brother and sister exchanged glances.
Lv: Kādā brīdī Juris nokļuva pie vēlēšanu kabīnes un uzstājīgi gāja iekšā.
En: At some point, Juris reached the voting booth and resolutely went inside.
Lv: Dagnis un Ilze stāvēja pie kabīnes, it kā cerēdami, ka nevajadzēs iejaukties.
