VC-25B Bridge Debuts as Air Force One
Hezbollah Attack Kills Israeli Officer in Lebanon
Jerusalem Olim Reimagine Shabbat Kiddush
The time is now 3:01 PM in New York, I'm Noa Levi and this is the latest Israel Today: Ongoing War Report.
In US Military Role, the US Air Force has published the first pictures of the VC-25B Bridge, a heavily modified variant of a Boeing 747-8I Business Jet donated to the United States by the Qatari Royal Family for use as Air Force One by President Donald J. Trump, and the aircraft has arrived for Commissioning Flights with the Presidential Airlift Group based at Joint Base Andrews, Maryland. There are 9 US Air Force KC-135 Stratotankers visible via flightradar24 active over the region surrounding the Strait of Hormuz. After the naval blockade against Iran was lifted, CENTCOM Commander Admiral Brad Cooper issued a statement praising the service members: I could not be prouder of our 15,000 men and women in uniform who supported the blockade over the past two months, their dedication and professionalism on display every day, ensuring strict enforcement while still supporting humanitarian aid flow. There is no mission too great for our warfighters who make up the most powerful military the world has ever known.
In the Conflict with Iran and its Regional Proxies, Hezbollah’s Secretary-General Naim Qassem described Lebanon as entering a new phase with dangerous conspiracies and threats, saying there is a coordinated campaign to end Hezbollah’s presence in the country and that Israel and the United States sought to close air, sea, and land crossings to prevent the arrival of weapons and reconstruction efforts, while imposing a suffocating financial blockade and accusing them of reneging on the November 2024 ceasefire due to Assad’s fall. He argued that Lebanon has entered the most dangerous phase but rejected the notion that death could deter Hezbollah. Israel’s ambassador to the United States, Yehiel Leiter, said Israel held fire at 11:30 a.m. Washington time and that if Hezbollah stops its attacks, it will respond quietly; Israel remains in the security zone to cleanse the area of Hezbollah and will stay there until the mission is complete. The Israeli defense forces also reported that Lieutenant Colonel Dor Gedalia Ben Simhon, 32, commander of the 401st Armored Brigade’s 52nd Battalion, and three other soldiers were killed in a Hezbollah attack overnight in southern Lebanon, with a suspected drone or anti-tank missile hitting the battalion commander’s tank shortly after midnight in Kfar Tebnit, killing all four crew members; the exact cause of the explosion remains under investigation, and the names of the other fallen soldiers were to be released later.
In US Policy Concerning Israel, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said the United States bears responsibility to end the war on all fronts, including Lebanon, and will be held accountable for any violation of the memorandum of understanding signed between Iran and the US, with a digitally signed agreement noted and discussions planned in the coming days by mediators in Cairo. Republican Senator Ted Cruz criticized the Trump-era Iran deal, calling the current regime deceptive and arguing that if they receive $300 billion, they would use it toward developing a nuclear weapon. US intelligence reportedly warned the Trump administration that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu could take steps to undermine the effort to reach a peace deal with Iran, and that Netanyahu’s political future is tied to convincing Israelis that he will not withdraw from Lebanon, even as Washington officials noted frustration with the memorandum of understanding with Iran. Other reporting from the White House and US intelligence suggested Netanyahu is likely to act in ways that could complicate peace efforts while Israel maintains military operations against Hezbollah in Lebanon.
