Spain’s 0-0 draw with Cape Verde has produced one of the biggest stories of the 2026 FIFA World Cup so far.

In Episode 5 of FIFA World Cup On The Ground with Sporty TV, Ade Oladipo and Kweku Afari react to a stunning result that has left serious questions hanging over Spain’s World Cup credentials. Cape Verde defended brilliantly, restricted one of the tournament favourites to very few clear chances, and almost pulled off one of the greatest upsets in World Cup history.

The story of the night was Cape Verde’s goalkeeper, whose incredible performance turned him into an overnight global superstar. He started the match with fewer than 10,000 Instagram followers and ended it with more than 7 million after frustrating Spain for 90 minutes in front of a worldwide audience.
