New Mexico’s sports legacy just got a major boost as five legendary athletes and coaches are set to be inducted into the New Mexico Sports Hall of Fame this year—each a powerhouse in their own right. Courtney Frerichs, Olympic silver medalist and elite runner, joins Anita Maxwell, whose jersey was retired and whose stats redefined her program. Miles Watters built a football dynasty at Clayton High with 11 state titles and 52 straight wins. John Fields led UNM golf to NCAA glory and earned national coach of the year honors three times. And Landry Jones, hometown hero from Artesia, racked up 39 wins as a college starter.
