Social housing priority list faces major overhaul

The Western Australian state government has announced the biggest overhaul to social housing priority lists in more than 70 years. The new system will assess need based on safety, housing circumstances, medical conditions, accessibility needs and cultural considerations, with increased emphasis on women and children experiencing domestic violence. Currently, more than 23,000 people are on the social housing wait list, with 8,000 classified as priority cases.
