השם "תמוז" מוזכר בתנ"ך כשם ע"ז הקשורה עם החמה – "הנשים .. מבכות את התמוז" [כי חשבו שההשפעה שלהם באה מהחמה, ולכן כשהיתה עוברת תקופת תמוז היו מבכות אותה וכו']. בגלל שהנשים פטורות מלימוד התורה וכיו"ב ובמילא עסוקות יותר בענינים גשמיים וזה גורם להן לתת חשיבות יתר לענינים גשמיים, והן גם אחראיות על הוצאות הבית בפועל, ולכן אִתָּן צ"ל השתדלות מיוחדת שיכירו שעל האדם לעשות רק את הכלי לפרנסה, אבל את הברכה וההצלחה באה אך ורק מאת ה' "ברכת ה' היא תעשיר", והקב"ה הוא המנהיג את העולם בכלל ובית זה בפרט, ובמילא מה שחשוב הוא לא כמה כסף מכניס הבעל, העיקר הוא שירוויח את זה בדרך כשירה וע"פ התורה, ובמילא תהי' ברכה והצלחה בדברים שיעשו עם הכסף. והתיקון על הענין של "הנשים.. מבכות את התמוז" הוא ע"י הנשים בזמננו!

The name Tammuz is mentioned in Tanach as the name of an idol associated with the sun, as the verse states, “…the women were…weeping for Tammuz.” (They believed that their blessing came from the sun, they wept when the summer was over). Because women are exempt from Torah study and the like, and therefore they are the ones who manage the household expenses and who are more involved in material matters, this can cause them to ascribe more importance to physical concerns than is really due. Particular effort is required to show them that a person only needs to make a vessel for livelihood, but the blessing and success come only from Hashem – “It is the blessing of Hashem that brings wealth.” Hashem runs the world as a whole, and this home in particular. Accordingly, what is important is not how much money the husband earns, but that he earn it in a proper manner and according to Torah. This will automatically result in blessing and success in the way the money is used. In this way, the women of our times can correct the behavior of “the women weeping for Tammuz” thousands of years ago.
