Coogee shark attack victim loses arm
Published 1 week, 4 days ago
Description
Leah Stewart, a 35-year-old mother and teacher, remains in critical but stable condition at St Vincent's Hospital following a shark attack at Coogee Beach. Surgeons have amputated her arm, and she has suffered bites to her arms and legs, lacerations, fractures throughout her body, and extreme blood loss. Premier Chris Minns has ruled out culling great white sharks, citing Australia's treaty obligations, while drone surveillance over beaches is being increased.
