Episode #101--"Accept the Fact That It's Going To Be Messy"--1:1 Conversation with Kelly Guest, Catholic Author

Season 10 Episode 101

This week’s Say Yes to Holiness podcast 1:1 Conversation is with Kelly Guest, mother of nine, author of Saintly Moms: 25 Stories of Holiness.

Our conversation was a fascinating and enjoyable one as we discussed Kelly's journey from being a Dominican nun to becoming a mother of nine to eventually publishing her book, and how all of those experiences prepared her to live out the fullness of her vocation.

Kelly Guest was an ordinary American girl who was not certain what she wanted to do or what God was calling her to do, so she attended community college as she discerned her options. She then met the Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia, and decided that she wanted to be like them, so she began her journey to discern religious life.

She spent five years living with the Nashville Dominicans, but it was not God’s will that she stay, so she returned home. Soon after, she met her future husband and married him three years later. Since then, they have been blessed with nine children whom Kelly homeschools. In the midst of  this, Kelly writes and shares on has her own blog, Nun2Nine, and wrote her book, Saintly Moms: 25 Stories of Holiness.

We spoke about the importance of humility and zeal as moms, our reasons for writing, and how we need to embrace the chaos and accept the fact that it's going to be messy as we journey towards holiness.

I can’t tell you how much I thoroughly enjoyed this conversation with Kelly, and I pray you receive as much hope, inspiration and encouragement as I did so you may continue doing WHATEVER IT TAKES to continue to deepen your relationship with Christ so you can become exactly who God created you to be.
