Description
Picture a massive global country music icon, the kind of artist who completely revolutionizes a genre. Right, like someone who racks up 21 number one hits. And, you know, gets invited to play for the president of the United States. You automatically imagine this unstoppable force of nature.
But despite having a foot in the door of the Hollywood establishment, He creates a literal secret identity. This is one of my favorite parts. He adopts the pseudonym Corky Jones. Under this fake name, complete with a secret session, he records a fast -paced rockabilly track called Hot Dog for the Pep Label.
- We are taking a journey into the life of Alvis Edgar Owens, Jr
- I want to tell you right up front, this isn't just a story about twanging guitars and hit records
- It is a story about a desperate, gritty escape from the dust bowl
- It's in this incredibly harsh environment that we get the origin of that famous name
