Af: In die hart van Kaapstad, op 'n koue winterdag, loop Karel en Elmarie langs die groot vensters van die kunsmuseum.
En: In the heart of Kaapstad (Cape Town), on a cold winter's day, Karel and Elmarie walk alongside the large windows of the art museum.
Af: Die sagte, verstrooide lig skyn deur die glas en teken interessante patrone oor die marmorvloere.
En: The soft, scattered light shines through the glass and casts interesting patterns over the marble floors.
Af: Karel, met sy immer-charmante glimlag, probeer sy beste om Elmarie te beïndruk.
En: Karel, with his ever-charming smile, tries his best to impress Elmarie.
Af: "Hou jy van hierdie skildery, Elmarie?" vra Karel en wys na 'n groot doek.
En: "Do you like this painting, Elmarie?" asks Karel, pointing at a large canvas.
Af: "Dis nogal indrukwekkend, nè?" antwoord sy en kyk mooi na die kleure wat op die doek dans.
En: "It's quite impressive, isn't it?" she replies, looking closely at the colors dancing on the canvas.

Af: Hy het hoegenaamd geen idee wat op die doek afspeel nie, maar hy besluit om sy kans te waag.

En: "Oh, you know quite a lot about art, Karel," she responds with a smile.
Af: Intussen stap Jonas, die regte kunskritikus, agter hul verby.
En: Meanwhile, Jonas, the real art critic, walks past them.
Af: Hy is 'n man van fyn smaak en baie kennis.
En: He is a man of refined taste and much knowledge.
Af: Terwyl hy die gesprek van die jong paar oorhoor, kan hy eenvoudig nie anders as om te lag nie.
En: As he overhears the conversation of the young couple, he simply can't help but laugh.
Af: Maar, geamuseerd deur Karel se dapper pogings, kies hy om later betrokke te raak.
En: But, amused by Karel's bold attempts, he chooses to get involved later.
Af: Die trio stap verder na 'n ander galery waar 'n beroemde skildery hang.
En: The trio walks further to another gallery where a famous painting hangs.
Af: Karel voel die druk styg, maar hy besluit om voort te gaan met sy vertoning.
En: Karel feels the pressure rising, but he decides to continue with his performance.
Af: "Hierdie stuk," begin hy met 'n selfversekerde stem, "is van daardie beroemde... um..."
En: "This piece," he begins in a confident voice, "is by that famous... um..."
Af: Jonas, wat self die kuns binnegegaan het, voltooi Karel se sin, "Van Gogh, korrek?" met 'n glimlag wat onderdruk word.
