Pro-Russian billboards driven through Sydney on Russia Day
Published 2 weeks ago
Description
Pro-Russian activists marked Russia's national day on June 12 by driving three trucks with giant billboards featuring Vladimir Putin's face around Sydney, including past the Opera House. The demonstration, organised by Simeon Boikov (known as Aussie Cossack) who has been sheltering at the Russian consulate for three years, was disrupted when one truck caught a low-hanging tree branch outside the consulate, bringing it crashing down onto a resident's car. The convoy eventually proceeded with one truck short, with organisers stating they have more demonstrations planned.
