Description
A suspicious fire in a Newtown apartment block on Alice Street forced 20 residents to evacuate just after 11pm, with one person treated for smoke inhalation before firefighters extinguished the blaze within 15 minutes. The unit has been declared a crime scene. Separately, a man is recovering in hospital in stable condition after accidentally shooting himself in the leg when his shotgun discharged while entering a vehicle in Woodbine at approximately 5:30pm.
