Bankstown Hospital demolition begins for $2b redevelopment

Bankstown Hospital demolition begins for $2b redevelopment

Published 2 weeks ago
Description
Demolition has begun at the former Bankstown TAFE site to make way for a new $2 billion, 14-storey Bankstown Hospital, expected to be completed by 2031. The hospital aims to ease pressure on nearby Westmead, Canterbury and St George hospitals, where patients currently wait up to 12 hours in emergency departments. The announcement comes alongside a $400 million maintenance blitz for NSW hospitals following a deadly mould outbreak at RPA that killed three patients, while Premier Chris Minns faces ongoing questions about illegal campaign donation allegations from 2015.
