The verdict is in. Karmelo Anthony has been found guilty of unaliving 1 and sentenced to 35 years. While emotions remain high and opinions are deeply divided, today I want to focus on one question: Why didn’t the jury appear to seriously consider manslaughter?

Before deliberations, the judge added a manslaughter instruction for the jury to consider. In my opinion, that decision was significant because it suggests there was enough evidence presented during the trial to support a manslaughter finding. Yet the jury returned an unaliving verdict in less than three hours.

To me, the speed of the verdict raises questions about whether manslaughter was ever truly considered. I believe Karmelo Anthony was overcharged from the beginning and that manslaughter was the more appropriate charge based on the facts presented at trial.

In this episode, I break down the role of the judge, the prosecution, the defense strategy, the jury, and why I believe the outcome may have been different under other circumstances. As always, these are my opinions based on the evidence and testimony presented in court.

Do you agree with the verdict, or do you believe manslaughter should have been the final conviction? Let me know in the comments.
