NSW hospitals in crisis over aged care backlog
Published 2 weeks, 1 day ago
Description
Almost 1,300 hospital beds across New South Wales are occupied by patients who cannot be discharged while waiting for Commonwealth funding for aged care or NDIS support. The state government has criticised the Commonwealth over the growing backlog and announced it will strengthen in-home care and refer patients to community-based services to free up hospital beds. Health Minister Ryan Park stated New South Wales will need to do much of the Commonwealth's heavy lifting on the issue.
