Another Nissan New-Car Launch

Nissan is determined to show the world that, despite challenges, it's still a strong brand. This year alone, we've seen world premieres of two new models with the fourth-generation Rogue and the polygonal Juke, a couple of teasers, and a generally more optimistic forecast. For all its troubles, the company is making a lot of noise - as it has to for the sake of its long-term prospects.

At the time of writing, Nissan just posted on X a new-car launch set for June 17, 2026. It was seemingly out of the blue, and surely a surprise given that it had just presented its mid-term goals just a few months ago.

Take Your Best Guess

The social media post from Nissan's global account simply said, "We will be live-streaming the 'New Model' announcement reveal event on the Nissan official YouTube channel. Please tune in." There's no accompanying teaser photo, and it was announced as if it were a memo in the office.

Nissan's Japanese account was more lively, though. Aside from encouraging its followers to watch the livestream, it also said, translated straight from Japanese, "What kind of car will make its debut...... Be sure to catch the moment when the details are revealed, live in real time. We'd love to hear your predictions in the replies too."

So, folks, it's time to play a guessing game without much in the way of clues.

What Could It Be?

We can probably rule out the Nissan Xterra. That model is primarily aimed at the North American market, and if it were the SUV, it would have been Nissan USA to break the news. We did check Nissan USA's account, and there was no mention of the launch there.

It is, however, possible that this is simply the Japanese premiere of the second-generation Kicks. However, the announcement originates from the global account, and given that the new(er) Kicks had already been revealed, it would be strange to create buzz around it again.

For Nissan to make a bigger deal out of it, it must be a hugely significant model. Our guess? We're probably aiming for the stars, but here it goes.
