In Direct Israel-Iran Clashes, IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir warned that Iran's attempts to "dictate equations and change reality" will fail, stressing that the Israel Defense Forces remains on high alert and prepared to resume operations against Iran if necessary. Speaking during a military drill, Zamir said Israel's recent strikes in Iran were “preparation for a much more significant and severe blow," adding that the IDF is ready to deliver “another hard and deep strike" while continuing to degrade Hezbollah and defend northern Israeli communities.
In Iranian Retaliation, Iranian ballistic missiles were launched from Khomein in Markazi Province, with at least six missiles fired toward an unknown location. The IRGC said air defenses downed a US Air Force MQ-9 Reaper near Jam County in Bushehr Province, amid the ongoing exchange of strikes with the United States. The IRGC also said it attacked the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet Headquarters in Bahrain, and in a separate statement, Iran’s Khatam Al-Anbiyaa Central Headquarters claimed US bases in the region were attacked, though there is no corroboration and no alarms sounded anywhere in the Gulf. Iranian channels claimed that a US Air Force MQ-9 Reaper was shot down above Jam, Bushehr Province. The Tasnim news agency, affiliated with the Revolutionary Guards, says Iran will respond to the US attacks.
In US Military Role, negotiations with Tehran are reportedly unimpeded by US strikes on Iran, while CENTCOM described the strikes as a proportional response to unjustified Iranian aggression following the downing of a US Army Apache helicopter over the Strait of Hormuz. President Trump said the United States and Iran will likely reach a very good deal after the strikes, according to ABC News. A Fox News report cited a senior US official saying the situation remains active and the US military is ready to respond if Iran decides to retaliate. CENTCOM announced the completion of self-defense strikes against Iran, carried out at the direction of the President, targeting Iranian air defense systems, ground control stations, and surveillance radar sites across Southern Iran. A later CENTCOM note said those self-defense strikes have completed, and reports indicate a third wave of attacks against air defense assets and other targets is now underway in Southern Iran, with a senior US official telling Israeli Channel 12 that a third wave is happening now. The campaign included coverage of an Apache helicopter going down near the Strait of Hormuz on Monday.
In Regional Impacts, interceptions were seen over Bahrain as tensions mounted in the area. More strikes on Qeshm Island at the Strait of Hormuz followed, with initial reports of explosions in Ahvaz, Khuzestan province, home to a large share of Iran's oil reserves. Footage from the first wave of strikes on Qeshm circulated, while a preliminary target list outlined Sirik naval base, Jask naval base, Bandar Abbas air defense position, and Qeshm coastal missile position. Explosions were reported in Bandar Abbas, and Mehr News Agency reported additional explosions there and on Qeshm.
In US Policy Concerning Israel, Britain, Canada, France, Norway, Australia and New Zealand on Tuesday imposed coordinated sanctions on individuals and groups accused of supporting or financing violence in the West Bank.
In Israeli Domestic Politics, a Border Police officer and two IDF officers were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with an ambush planned for May 2 in southern Israel; the Border Police officer, in his 20s, had been absent from duty for about a year, and one of the other suspects is a colonel in the IDF res
