The Rays hang on to beat the Red Sox 4-3. The Rays found themselves down 1-0 after the Red Sox scored the first run of the game in the 3rd inning. The Rays would respond with a massive 3 run 4th inning to take the lead. The scoring started for the Rays with a 2 out RBI single by Cedric Mullins. That was followed up by Ben Williamson smoking a double to make it 2-1. Nick Fortes capped off the inning with another RBI double that made it 3-1. The Rays picked up an insurance run in the 6th on a Richie Palacious RBI single to make it 4-1. The Red Sox cut the lead to 4-3 in the 8th. But some clutch pitching by Kevin Kelly and Bryan Baker held the lead for the Rays. Nick Martinez started for the Rays and was awesome for the first 7 innings. In those first 7 innings he allowed just 1 run. He did allow 2 in the 8th but it was still an efficient start. The Rays will look to go for the sweep tomorrow afternoon.
