The Football Family on Euro 2020: Episode 3

Description

After the Game of the Tournament thus far, Gavin Cooney dialled up football coach Shane Keegan for the latest episode of The Football Family.

The lads get stuck into the thriller between Portugal and Germany, and discuss how Jogi Low got things so right, Fernando Santos so wrong, and why Robin Gosens utterly dominated the game. Are Germany ready to win the tournament? Is Portugal’s negative style of play holding them back? And given the obvious weaknesses in the Portugal defence, can Ireland exploit them when the sides meet in September? (Spoiler: Probably Not.)

Elsewhere we talk a little about France/Hungary and a lot about England/Scotland. There is praise for Scotland before the England inquest.

We discuss why Harry Kane’s dreadful form is not solely his fault, ask why Gareth Southgate’s England are so dreary and negative, and explain why England won’t be winning the tournament. There’s also wider talk with Shane about the managers who have impressed him so far, and why this tournament may be the moment the three-at-the-back becomes football’s next dominant tactical trend.
