En: In the kavarna "Prešernova Kava," the atmosphere was pleasant.
Sl: Maja, Gregor in Neža so sedeli za lesenim okroglim mizico, obkroženim z vonjem po sveže pečeni kavi in toplem pecivu.
En: Maja, Gregor, and Neža were sitting at a small round wooden table, surrounded by the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and warm pastries.
Sl: Maja je bila zaskrbljena.
En: Maja was worried.
Sl: Njene oči so se hitro premikale po zapiskih, a misli so bile drugje.
En: Her eyes were rapidly moving over her notes, but her thoughts were elsewhere.
En: She had always been a diligent student, and her scholarship depended on how well she would do in her exams.
Sl: Gregor je sedel nasproti nje, komajda pozoren.
En: Gregor was sitting across from her, barely paying attention.
Sl: Odprl je knjigo, a večinoma je strmel skozi okno.
En: He had opened a book, but mostly he was staring out the window.
Sl: Ljubljanski promet je bil živahen, a Gregor je bil v svojem svetu.
En: Traffic in Ljubljana was lively, but Gregor was in his own world.
Sl: “Ah, še je čas,” je rekel z nasmeškom, ko je opazil Majino panično prevračanje listov.
En: “Ah, there's still time,” he said with a smile when he noticed Maja's frantic page flipping.
Sl: Maja se je ugriznila v ustnico.
En: Maja bit her lip.
Sl: Bila je razočarana.
En: She was frustrated.
En: How could he be so relaxed?
En: Neža, who was sitting between them, was trying to ease the tension.
En: “Hey, maybe we could talk together about the tougher topics? We all have something we're not good at.”
En: But Maja was too absorbed in her own worries to listen.
Sl: Položila je glavo v dlan in globoko vzdihnila.
En: She placed her head in her hands and sighed deeply.
En: Gregor smiled slightly, but this time more kindly.
En: “Really, Maja, we have to try to enjoy learning too,” he said.
En: The afternoon progressed, and Maja felt the pressure mounting too high.
Sl: Končno je vstala in pogledala Gregorja naravnost v oči.
En: Finally, she stood up and looked Gregor straight in the eyes.
En: “I can't relax when you're so last-minute about everything. I need help!”
Sl: Gregor je presenečeno odložil skodelico kave.
En: Gregor was surprised and set down his coffee cup.
En: Neža gently placed a hand on Maja's back.
Sl: “Prav imaš. Pomagali ti bomo,” je pristavil Gregor, tokrat resno.
En: “You're right. We'll help you,” Gregor added, this time seriously.
