75-year-old Keith Blessing and 72-year-old Dianne Blessing were attacked in their Torrington home when 34-year-old Joshua Trethewey allegedly broke in and assaulted them with a knife. Keith fought off the intruder and shot him with his rifle, sustaining multiple stab wounds in the process. Di has been discharged from hospital while Keith remains in stable condition after leaving intensive care, with the couple expressing gratitude to first responders, the Westpac Rescue Helicopter team, and medical staff who they credit with saving their lives.
