Can Apple succeed this time with Siri AI? WWDC 2026 deep dive.
Description
Apple just announced Siri AI at WWDC yesterday.
Can they succeed this time? Because let's be honest — they've failed miserably till now.
2011: Apple launches the world's first AI assistant. 3-year head start over everyone.
2025: User asks Siri "What month is it?" → Siri: "Sorry, I don't understand."
Why Siri fell so far behind:
1️⃣ Privacy over power — ChatGPT trained on the internet, Siri didn't
2️⃣ Failed 1 in 3 times in internal tests — delayed, pulled their own ads
3️⃣ $250M false advertising lawsuit settled May 2026
4️⃣ Hardware company culture — annual cycles don't work in AI
What they announced yesterday: 🤝 Siri AI — powered by Google Gemini ($1B/year — the admission says it all) 📱 Real cross-app intelligence — emails, photos, messages, calls 🔒 Privacy-first — on-device processing, third-party verified 📲 Works on iPhone 11 onwards — widest iOS rollout ever
My honest take: Apple has 2.2 billion devices. ChatGPT has 600 million users. The distribution is unmatched — if the product delivers. But not launching in EU or China locks out 2 billion people at launch. And ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude have been improving every week for 2 years.
This wasn't a comeback. It was a correction.
The real test isn't the WWDC stage. It's whether Siri AI actually works on a Tuesday afternoon when you really need it.
If yes → game on. If no → see you at WWDC 2028.
