Fatal shark attack claims spearfisher off Albany coast

A 35-year-old man has died after being attacked by a 4.5-metre shark while spearfishing with family approximately 13 kilometres off Michaelmass Island near Albany, Western Australia. This is the second fatal shark attack in Western Australia in less than a month, following the death of Steve Mataboni at Rottnest Island. It is Albany's first shark fatality since 2014, when a 17-year-old spearfisher was killed at Shane's Beach.
