कदाचित् कश्चन महात्मा प्रयाणावसरे पिपासाम् अनुभूतवान् । कस्यचित् चर्मकारस्य कुटीरं प्राप्य जलं पृष्टवान् । किन्तु निम्नकुलीयः सः चर्मकारः जलं कथं ददानि इति चिन्तयति । तदा महात्मा वदति यत् भगवतः दृष्ट्या सर्वे समानाः । ये तारतम्यम् आचरेयुः ते तु अज्ञानिनः । स्पृश्यास्पृश्यभेदः मानवेन कल्पितः.....’। तदनन्तरं सः चर्मकारः सन्तोषेण तस्मै महात्मने जलं दत्तवान् ।
(“केन्द्रीयसंस्कृतविश्वविद्यालयस्य अष्टादशीयोजनान्तर्गततया एतासां कथानां ध्वनिप्रक्षेपणं क्रियते”)

Once, a saint felt thirsty while traveling and asked for water at the hut of a cobbler. The cobbler hesitated, thinking of his low caste. The saint then said, “In the eyes of God, all are equal. Those who make distinctions are ignorant. The division of touchable and untouchable is man-made.” Hearing this, the cobbler joyfully gave him water.
