Giants Collapse in Extra Innings
Description
After a huge 18-run win the day before, the Giants stumbled in a gritty 3-2 loss to the Cubs in extra innings. Landen Roupp pitched well into the fifth, giving up just one earned run, but the offense was nearly silent until Rafael Devers broke the deadlock with a solo homer in the sixth. The Cubs answered with a pair of solo shots from Pete Crow-Armstrong, keeping it tied until the ninth. Chapman’s sacrifice fly gave the Giants a 2-1 lead, but Crow-Armstrong hit again — this time a walk-off home run — forcing extra innings. The Cubs won it in the 10th on a single and error. The Giants now face a must-win Sunday against Trevor McDonald vs. Jamison Taillon to avoid getting swept.
