उल्लाळराज्यं किञ्चन सम्पद्भरितं लघुसंस्थानम् । गच्छता कालेन तस्य संस्थानस्य राज्ञः मद्यपानप्रवृत्तिः जाता । पोर्तुगीसाः तस्य मैत्रीं सम्पादितवन्तः । मद्यपानाय यत् मद्यं क्रेतव्यं, तन्निमित्तं स्वसंस्थानमेव पोर्तुगीसाधीनं कृतवान् सः । राज्ञी अभयादेवी संस्थानरक्षणाय स्वयं शासनसूत्रं गृहीतवती । पोर्तुगीस्-अभयादेव्योः मध्ये जाते युद्धे पोर्तुगीसानां पराजयः जातः ।

Ullal was a small but prosperous principality. Over time, its king fell into the habit of drinking. The Portuguese befriended him, and in order to buy liquor, he placed his state under Portuguese control. To protect the principality, Queen Abhaya Devi herself took charge of governance. A war broke out between Abhaya Devi and the Portuguese, and ultimately the Portuguese were defeated.
