Cs: Pozoroval slunce, které osvětlovalo nehybný trávník za plotem psychiatrické léčebny.
En: He watched the sun illuminating the still lawn behind the fence of the psychiatric treatment center.
Cs: Jeho mysl byla plná myšlenek na Petřinu svatbu.
En: His mind was full of thoughts about Petra's wedding.
Cs: Petra, jeho sestra, kterou měl moc rád.
En: Petra, his sister, whom he loved very much.
Cs: Chtěla, aby Jakub byl jejím svědkem, když si řeknou "ano."

En: Vladislav stopped and scrutinized Jakub.
Cs: "Jakube, rozumím ti, ale tvoje zdraví je taky důležité," řekl klidným hlasem.
En: "Jakub, I understand you, but your health is also important," he said in a calm voice.
Cs: Jakub mu podal malý papírek.
En: Jakub handed him a small paper.
Cs: "Tohle je dopis od Petry.
En: "This is a letter from Petra.
Cs: Napsala mi, jak moc znamená, když tam budu," řekl Jakub rozechvěle.
En: She wrote to me how much it means if I am there," Jakub said tremulously.
Cs: Vladislav si vzal dopis a začal číst.
En: Vladislav took the letter and began to read.
Cs: Slova od sestry byla plná lásky a naděje.
En: The words from the sister were full of love and hope.
