Published 1 month, 4 weeks ago
Description
Youth unemployment is a topic that’s on a lot of people’s minds lately, and with good reason. As of April 2026, the rate stands at 9.5%, which is a noticeable uptick from 8.5% just a month before. While that doesn’t sound too bad at first glance, we have to remember the historical averages! From 1948 to now, youth unemployment has averaged over 11.5%. That high was hit back in April 2020 when it skyrocketed to a staggering 27.5% during the pandemic.
